Threatpost

Threatpost — the first stop for security news.

Threatpost is an independent cyber-news site that is the leading source of information about IT and business security for hundreds of thousands of professionals.

It’s got a great layout that is less techy and busy than some other cybersecurity sites. Another difference to its competitors is the podcast section. Click on the link at the top of the page to find dozens of different in-depth podcasts on cybersecurity.

The site also offers products, webinars, and ebooks relating to internet security. It’s good to see gaming content featured on the site, so it’s not all business orientated.

CyberNews

CyberNews is home to breaking cybersecurity news and independent research, latest tech analysis and product reviews.

The site has an extensive range of cybersecurity stories and resources. One of its best features is its editorial section. You’ll find a wide range of different feature stories from a list of the most expensive vintage computers to NFT explainer articles.

It’s another well-laid out site with plenty of stories to choose from. They have a great section devoted to cybersecurity research. It features key information about the latest hacks and is a must-read for all I.T security personnel.

The Daily Swig also covers the latest bug bounty programs and keeps you up-to-date with the most recent bug bounty information. They also specialize in taking a closer look at vital security issues with in-depth guides, research, and analysis.

Mainstream news sites

It’s not only specialist cybersecurity sites where you can find the latest hacker and data breach news. Some of the world´s most famous and popular news sites offer cybersecurity content.

BBC

The famous and historic BBC news service based in the United Kingdom has its own cybersecurity section. The news giant covers the big hacking stories that hit big businesses and governments.

For example in June 2021, the site has articles on the EA Sports hack, the Colonial Pipeline ransom, and the JBS Meats cyber-attack.

You can rely on solid, trustworthy reporting from the BBC but they don’t have the wide scope of content that the more specialized hacker news sites have.

Reuters

Reuters is the world’s largest multimedia news provider, reaching billions of people worldwide every day. Like the BBC it has its own cybersecurity section on its website.

It focuses on the big hacking and data breach stories rather than hacking protection and security products. As a large media organization, they have the resources to investigate cyber-attacks in depth over a long span of time.

As you would expect, Reuters has a massive social media following with over 23 million Twitter followers.

CBS News

One of America’s leading television networks, CBS News has its own cybersecurity news section. The American news network covers the leading hacking stories from around the world.

This can include everything from North Korea trying to hack the Pfizer vaccine to Martha’s Vineyard ransomware attack. Due to its size, like the BBC and Reuters, they can provide thoroughly investigated stories, unlike many other cybersecurity news outlets.

It however only has a small selection of the latest relevant cyber-attacks compared to specialist cyber news sites.

Summary

As you can see there are several great sites for everything cybersecurity. Whether you’re an I.T security expert, small business owner, or just interested in keeping your private data… well private.

Bookmark the sites that work the best for you, subscribe to their newsletters, and follow the social media accounts to get the latest hacking news, when you need it.
